The University of Jena was founded in 1558. Ernst Haeckel (1834–1919) was the first professor for Zoology in Germany. The meeting will take place both in the historical buildings of the Zoological Institute, in the Phyletisches Museum, and mostly in the large lecture halls at Ernst-Abbe-Campus. A new special exhibition in the Phyletisches Museum features Haeckel's favourite organisms, the medusae.
