Knowing Every Species: The German Zoological Society's Century-Long Quest

(Thursday, September 11th, 17:35 hrs, Lecturehall 2)

In a special presentation, Michael Ohl illuminates the German Zoological Society's (DZG) early history. In 1891, the DZG set out to standardize animal naming and compile a complete catalog of every known species - a visionary quest that unfolds in the century-long publication of the series "Das Tierreich" and still drives biodiversity science today.
